Day 1 - Pre-Qualifying for Web.com Tour

For those not that familiar with golf, here's a quick explanation of what "Q-School" or Qualifying School is for the Web.com Tour.

Qualifying school consists of 4 stages:

  1. Pre-Quaifying - Total of 5 tournaments held across the US.  Three rounds of golf are played with roughly 45 players moving on from each event to 1st stage.
  2. 1st Stage - Total of 13 tournaments held that include the pre-qualified golfers and any players exempt from pre-qualifiying.  Four rounds of golf are played and roughly the top 25 players from each event move on to 2nd stage.
  3. 2nd Stage - Total of 6 tournaments held that include those who qualified from 1st stage and any players exempt from 1st stage.  Four rounds of golf are played and roughly top 20 players from each event move on to final stage.
  4. Final Stage - One tournament that includes those who qualified from 2nd stage and any players exempt from 2nd stage.  Six rounds of golf are played.  The top 25 players earn a card on the Web.com tour for the next year.  Web.com is the tour below the PGA tour and players can earn their way up to the PGA tour this way.

Today was Tim's first round for pre-qualifying.  He shot a 76 and he has two more rounds left this week.  Click here to follow Tim's score on the leaderboard.
