Day 1 - Pre-Qualifying for Web.com Tour

For those not that familiar with golf, here's a quick explanation of what "Q-School" or Qualifying School is for the Web.com Tour.

Qualifying school consists of 4 stages:

  1. Pre-Quaifying - Total of 5 tournaments held across the US.  Three rounds of golf are played with roughly 45 players moving on from each event to 1st stage.
  2. 1st Stage - Total of 13 tournaments held that include the pre-qualified golfers and any players exempt from pre-qualifiying.  Four rounds of golf are played and roughly the top 25 players from each event move on to 2nd stage.
  3. 2nd Stage - Total of 6 tournaments held that include those who qualified from 1st stage and any players exempt from 1st stage.  Four rounds of golf are played and roughly top 20 players from each event move on to final stage.
  4. Final Stage - One tournament that includes those who qualified from 2nd stage and any players exempt from 2nd stage.  Six rounds of golf are played.  The top 25 players earn a card on the Web.com tour for the next year.  Web.com is the tour below the PGA tour and players can earn their way up to the PGA tour this way.

Today was Tim's first round for pre-qualifying.  He shot a 76 and he has two more rounds left this week.  Click here to follow Tim's score on the leaderboard.

Arizona Open

This week Tim played in the Arizona Open held at Troon Country Club in Scottsdale, AZ.  The monsoon weather gave the 144 players slightly cooler temps with highs in the 90's.  That's pretty nice this time of year for AZ weather.  The first day of the event Tim played in the afternoon shooting a 79.  On Friday he was able to play a better round shooting 71.  He missed the cut for Saturday by 2 strokes.

His next event with be on September 18-20th, the Pre-qualifier for Web.com Q-School at PGA West - Greg Norman Course in LaQuinta, CA.

Iowa Open - Day 3

Today was the last round of the Iowa Open and Tim shot a 79.  This is not one of his best scores, but as we all know those who succeed learn from their best and worst days.  Tim has an inspiring determination similar to one of golf's greatest:

Resolve never to quit, never to give up, no matter the situation. - Jack Nicklaus.

Iowa Open - Day 1 & 2

On Friday and Saturday, Tim played in the Iowa Open at Lake Panorama National Golf Course in Panora, Iowa.  Rain storms and lightning caused a 3 hour delay on the first day of the tournament.  The course was wet from the rain but still in good playing condition.  The playing field consisted of 144 golfers. Tim shot 75 for his first round and 73 on his second round, making the cut at T55.  He tees off tomorrow at 9:24 am and will try to put up a low round so he can move up the leader board.
